Brand is a municipality in the Upper Palatinate district of Tirschenreuth and a member of the Neusorg administrative community .

The place is a recognized resort .

history

The settlement of Brand was first mentioned in a document around 1180. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

On January 1, 2017, parts of the dissolved community-free area Lenauer Forst came to the community.

Population development

Between 1988 and 2018 the population fell from 1254 to 1132 by 122 or 9.7%.

Municipal council

The local election on March 15, 2020 led to the following distribution of seats in the local council:

• CSU : 7 seats
• FWG (Free Voters Community Brand): 5 seats

In addition, the separately elected mayor Bernhard Schindler (CSU) is chairman.

The municipality has had the coat of arms since 1950.

economy

The largest employer in the municipality is the Schiettinger Group, which produces cardboard boxes from solid and corrugated cardboard. The automobile refiner Mansory is also based here.

Max Reger Memorial Room

The Max Reger Memorial Room in the town hall commemorates the composer Max Reger . It opened on March 25, 1973 on the occasion of his 100th birthday.

On display are scores, letters and photographs of the musician as well as furnishings from the house where he was born. Furthermore, certificates, commemorative coins and Max Reger's death mask can be seen.
