history

Until the parish merger

The place Rößlein was first mentioned in 1398 in the fief book of the Nuremberg burgrave Johann III. called. In 1419 Heinz von Lüchau was enfeoffed with the manor house. In 1467 the place came to the Lords of Reitzenstein ; In 1488 the fiefdom went to Wilhelm von Schirnding , who subsequently owned most of Röslau as a fiefdom.

In 1651, the Oberröslau fiefdom was awarded to Philipp von Waldenfels . In 1754 the manor Oberröslau was divided, and in the middle of the 19th century it came into civil ownership.

In 1826 the place Ludwigsfeld was established, which was incorporated into Oberröslau in 1925. With the construction of the Fichtelgebirgsbahn from 1875–1877, important industries settled there. The headquarters of the porcelain manufacturer Gebr. Winterling were located here from 1907 to 2000 , and the “Röslau” brand has been synonymous with musical strings (especially piano strings) and spring wire since 1882.

In 1963 the name of the municipality Grün was officially changed to Unterröslau .

The 600 year old municipality of Dürnberg was incorporated into Oberröslau in 1956. On January 1, 1966, the municipalities of Oberröslau and Unterröslau were voluntarily amalgamated.

Wind farm

In 2017, Wiesbaden-based project developer ABO Wind built a wind farm consisting of three GE Wind Energy 2.75-120 turbines with a hub height of 139 meters and a nominal output of 2.75 megawatts each. During the construction work, a pair of white-tailed eagles settled in the vicinity of the wind farm. In the ARD broadcast W wie Wissen on September 3, 2016, under the title "How dangerous are wind turbines for birds and bats?" criticizes the fact that the wind farm endangers red kites and rare sea eagles . Already in April 2016, the BUND and the state association for bird protection had drawn attention to this: "Röslau wind farm threatens the first Upper Franconian sea eagle" and should therefore no longer be built. After a brief construction stop, the company resumed construction of the wind farm in August 2016, despite the presence of the sea eagles.
