Ernst Riedelbauch

Ernst Riedelbauch (born March 7, 1922 in Röslau-Grün ; † July 12, 1997 there ) was a German motorcycle racer .

Career

Ernst Riedelbauch started in 1950 as a driver with a pre-war BMW for the first time in a motorcycle race. In 1952 he became a licensed driver, but it wasn't until 1954 when he bought a 500- feather bed Norton from Hans Bartl that he was successful. With this machine he took sixth place in the internationally strong field mountain race. In the same year he won a BMW in Wunsiedel and the Schleizer Dreieckrennen .

In 1955, Riedelbauch won the Dieburger Dreiecksrennen , in Schleiz and on the Halle-Saale loop . That was enough for him to win the German runner-up championship in the 500 cc class behind BMW works driver Walter Zeller and ahead of Peter Knees in a private BMW. At the 1955 Grand Prix of Nations on the fast track in Monza , Italy , Riedelbauch took sixth place in a BMW and thus achieved the only World Championship point of his career.

Ernst Riedelbauch was German champion in the 500 cc class in 1956 with good placements in Hockenheim , the Stuttgart Solitude , the Norisring in Nuremberg and the AVUS race in Berlin ahead of Alois Huber (BMW) from Traunstein .

Riedelbauch ended his career at the season-ending 1957 and all of its then allowed to plastic - recycling company in devote Roeslau Green. He died of a July 12, 1997 at the age of 75 of cancer .
