The Scherdel GmbH is a German family in the field of metal forming , assembly and joining technology , machinery and tooling and surface technology . The full-range supplier of valve springs for engine production is considered the world market leader in piston ring springs . The group currently has 29 locations worldwide.

history

It was founded in 1890 by Sigmund Scherdel in Marktredwitz as a wire drawing company for piano strings. Processing into technical springs followed soon after the company was founded. In 1940 Scherdel achieved a market share of 80% in the German Reich. The range was gradually expanded and exported abroad. 1986 was the beginning of internationalization. In 2007 a new plant was built in Anqing , China. In 2008 a research and development center was inaugurated, which also provides customer service. In 2010 investments were made in Russia. The export quota in 2008 was around 50%. The company currently employs around 5800 people.
