In Germany , the register of associations ( VR ) is kept in accordance with the Ordinance on Register of Associations (VRV) within the framework of register law at the local courts (subject matter jurisdiction ). All associations ( association law ) formed in accordance with the provisions of the German Civil Code (BGB) that apply for this are entered in the association register. Associations that existed before the BGB came into force are not included in the association register.
The local court in whose district the association is based is responsible. However, the federal states have the option of centralizing the register of associations. Berlin , for example, has set up a central register of associations at the Charlottenburg district court .
The Rechtspfleger is functionally responsible .
New entries, all changes and deletions are noted in the association register. The new entry will be published in the Official Journal. The register of associations can be kept electronically in accordance with the provisions of the German Civil Code ( § 55a BGB). Usually, but optionally, the registered association takes the abbreviation e. V. with in the name. Access to the register is open to everyone.
Entries
The entry of an association in the association register is possible after registration according to § 59 BGB. Must register

Extract from the register
The register of associations should fulfill a publication, evidence, control and protective function (negative publicity). Therefore, anyone can request an excerpt (extract from the association register or VR excerpt) or printout (association register printout or VR printout) via an entry from the association register without justification. Since January 1, 2007, it has been possible to search the association registers of all federal states at any time via the nationwide register portal, provided they are kept in electronic form.
