Hans Seiffert (local researcher)

Hans Seiffert (* 1894 ; † 1968 ) was the principal of the school in Helmbrechts and is known as a local researcher and writer .

Hans Seiffert was a teacher and rector in Helmbrechts. He was involved in the founding of the Heimatmuseum, today's Upper Franconian Textile Museum, in the 1930s and the reopening in 1956. He is the author of the Chronicle of Helmbrechts and numerous writings on local history about the Franconian Forest . Various articles appeared in the Frankenwald member's magazine of the Frankenwaldverein , in the home calendar for the Fichtelgebirge, Frankenwald and Vogtland and in the Kulturwarte . His most important books are considered standard literature and have been printed in several editions over decades with only minor changes. As editor of the annual publication "Frankenwald", he has been a member of the board of the Frankenwaldverein since it was first published in 1925. He was 1st Chairman in 1934 and 1952 and Deputy Chairman from 1935 to 1945.

For his services he was awarded the Silver Citizen Medal by the city of Helmbrechts in 1959 . He was honored with the silver association badge and the gold wreath by the Franconian Forest Association.
