Lorenz Reinhard Spitzenpfeil (born July 3, 1874 in Michelau in Upper Franconia , † April 13, 1945 in Kulmbach ) was a German graphic artist , type artist and building researcher .

Lorenz Reinhard Spitzenpfeil's professional career began as a primary school teacher. From 1892 he taught at various schools, including as a mathematics teacher at the secondary school in Bayreuth . In 1899 he was appointed to the primary school in Nuremberg . This enabled him to study the collections of the Germanisches Nationalmuseum and the Bavarian Industrial Museum on site and to attend the art school. In 1904 he gave up teaching for health reasons and settled in Kulmbach . There he developed a lively artistic activity. In the late period of his work, he took up the corresponding ideological symbolism during the Nazi era. His wife died in 1942. He committed suicide in 1945.

As with Karl Bedal, his graphic work includes numerous local history assignments. He is the creator of the logos of the Fichtelgebirgsverein , the Frankenwaldverein and the Colloquium Historicum Wirsbergense . He designed logos, posters, magazine covers, illustrations and advertising materials for local associations and businesses and designed a. a. Special postmark with nature-loving motifs. His work received recognition value through self-developed fonts .

As a building researcher, he dealt with the architecture of the Middle Ages and discovered the underlying laws of dimensions, shapes and proportions that the builders used for local sacred and secular buildings. Until then, the dimensions with today's linear dimensions were only approximate values ​​that did not make the underlying ideal of the Middle Ages transparent. He was also involved in the excavations at the defunct Leonhard Church near Wirsberg .

A street is named after him in his place of birth Michelau and in Kulmbach. His grave is in Kulmbach.
