Karl Paul Bedal (born June 24, 1914 in Schwarzenbach an der Saale ; † May 9, 1999 in Hof ) was a German artist , graphic artist and local researcher.

Life

Bedal grew up in Schwarzenbach an der Saale as the youngest of four children and graduated from high school in Hof / Saale in 1934 . After a teacher training in Bayreuth , war deployment and imprisonment followed. After returning from captivity, he initially worked as an art teacher at the secondary school in Schwarzenbach and freelance for the Summa-Feuerung company headed by Günter Fuchs, husband of Erika Fuchs . In 1958 he moved to Hof and lived with his family in the house of his in-laws until his death.

He was a painter, graphic artist, author and preservationist . As an artist he was a member of the Nordfranken group . In 1983 the Upper Franconian Farm Museum Kleinlosnitz was founded on his initiative . Bedal wrote a large number of books and left behind a large collection of watercolors, graphics and texts. In addition to house research, he also devoted himself to stone cross research .

He had been married to his wife Annemarie since 1939 and had three children, including the politician Gudrun Lehmann and the former director of the Franconian Open Air Museum Bad Windsheim Konrad Bedal .
