history

17th to 20th century

The place Schwarzenbach goes back to the two districts Seuckenreuth - located southeast of the Saale - and Schwarzenbach ("Swertzenbach") - northwest of the Saale - back. Margrave Christian von Brandenburg-Bayreuth granted the place market rights in 1610 . There were three manors in the village: the Seuckenreuth Tower Hill Castle , the Oberhof and the Unterhof . The former office of the Prussian principality of Bayreuth , which had been Prussian since 1792 , fell to France in the Peace of Tilsit in 1807 and became part of Bavaria in 1810 . The princes of Schönburg-Waldenburg owned the Unterhof manor at that time. They built Schwarzenbach Castle on the site of the manor. 1844 Schwarzenbach an der Saale was by King Ludwig of Bavaria to the city levied.

On Good Friday 1948, the Christ Brotherhood in Selbitz was founded in St. Gumbertus Church .

Incorporation from the districts of Hof, Münchberg and Rehau

On January 1, 1976, the previously independent municipality of Stobersreuth was incorporated. On July 1, 1976, parts of the dissolved community of Hallerstein (Hallerstein, Völkenreuth, Albertsberg, Förmitz and Birkenbühl) were added. Benk came to the community of Weißdorf. On January 1, 1977, Schwarzenbach received about 40 inhabitants from the dissolved community of Gottfriedsreuth. Förbau, Martinlamitz and Quellenreuth as well as parts of the dissolved municipality of Seulbitz on the Saxon Saale (Seulbitz, Bärlas and Götzmannsgrün) followed on May 1, 1978. Albertsreuth was added to the municipality of Weißdorf. The former municipality of Seulbitz with the villages of Götzmannsgrün and Posterlitz and the former municipality of Hallerstein with the villages of Birkenbühl, Förmitz and Völkenreuth were assigned to the Münchberg district before the regional reform . The former community of Quellenreuth with the villages of Langenbach, Schwingen and Stollen and the former community of Martinlamitz with the village of Nonnenwald were in the area of the former district of Rehau . In addition to the city center, the communities Gottfriedsreuth, Fletschrenreuth and Förbau belonged to the district of Hof before 1972. Thus, today's urban area of the city of Schwarzenbach extends over three former administrative districts.

Economy and Infrastructure

Companies

The main branches of industry used to be porcelain, textiles, cast iron, mechanical engineering, shoes, and yeast . Well-known manufacturers included the porcelain factories Oscar Schaller & Co. Nachf. ( Gebr. Winterling ) and Johann Kronester . There were also many trading companies and freight forwarders in Schwarzenbach.

The structures changed significantly after the political change in 1989/90 , especially in the porcelain industry. There are still a few smaller factories, one of which produces ceramics and porcelain by hand, while three other small companies deal mainly with further processing and refinement. From 1931 to 1984 the Summa Feuerungen company was a factory for modern ovens.

Only a few of the formerly many craft businesses have remained; of the many machine factories, only two have existed since April 2011. Large industrial companies have a textile and nonwovens manufacturer ( Sandler AG ), an iron foundry, a shoe factory, a yeast factory and two abrasives manufacturers. Since the reform of the craft regulations, there have been many small businesses.

The municipal tax revenue amounted to the equivalent of 5.199 million euros in 1999, of which 2.05 million euros (net) were trade tax revenue.

media

The Schwarzenbach Official Gazette has been a weekly newspaper since 1903.
