Klaus Beier

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Klaus Beier (born December 10, 1966 in Schwarzenbach an der Saale ) is a German right-wing extremist politician . He was federal press spokesman and is a member of the national board of the NPD as well as chairman of the Brandenburg regional association and deputy chairman of the affiliated Oderland district association , which includes the Oder-Spree district and the independent city of Frankfurt (Oder) . He has been a member of the Oder-Spree district council since 2003.

Political career

The trained businessman Beier joined the Bavarian state association of the NPD youth organization Young National Democrats (JN) and the mother party in 1986 . In the youth association, he made it to the federal executive board. Beier quickly made a career in the Aschaffenburg-Miltenberg district association and became its chairman. A little later, Beier also rose to the boards of the NPD district association of Lower Franconia and the Bavarian regional association. In the late 1990s Beier moved to Brandenburg, where he quickly became deputy NPD state chairman.

Prior to this, he was active in the German Alternative (DA) , which was banned in 1992 .

Since the local elections in autumn 2003, he has been chairman of the NPD district parliamentary group in the Oder-Spree district . After the resignation of the then state chairman Mario Schulz , he was elected as his successor in January 2004. In the 2005 Bundestag election he ran as a direct candidate for the NPD in the Frankfurt (Oder) - Oder-Spree constituency and received 3.6% of the votes, and 3.7% of the first votes in the 2009 Bundestag election . In the state elections in Brandenburg in 2009 and 2014 , he ran as the top candidate of his party.

Controversy

Beier is mentioned in several reports on the protection of the constitution from the state of Brandenburg. In the 2005 report, for example, it is mentioned that in the course of the NPD strategy in the "fight for heads" in the Oder-Spree district council, Beier denied Germany's war guilt for World War II. In the same year Beier was responsible for distributing the schoolyard CD to schools in Brandenburg. In 2006, Beier was described in the constitutional report as one of the few full-time functionaries of the NPD in Brandenburg, albeit without local roots.

In 2006, Beier hit the headlines across the region when he and the NPD in Fürstenwalde publicly announced an anti-racism seminar organized by a Protestant youth education center with black youth from Berlin and Brandenburg at the beginning of March under the heading “The Whites Are Coming” to accompany and visit ”, and racist agitated against the event. He declared that the seminar was "anti-German" because Germans could only be white. In 2007, under the responsibility of Klaus Beier, racist slogans were published. In addition, Beier was reported in 2007 by the Chairwoman of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Charlotte Knobloch , for an anti-Semitic Internet publication.

Until March 2009, Beier had to answer before the Tiergarten District Court on charges of sedition (together with Udo Voigt and Frank Schwerdt ). The prosecution accused them of having racially discriminated against national soccer player Patrick Owomoyela in a flyer for the 2006 soccer World Cup. Beier was sentenced to seven months probation and a fine. Despite the conviction for sedition , Beier insulted the national soccer player Mesut Özil as "plastic Germans" and "ID Germans" in a special broadcast on rbb television on the state elections in Brandenburg in 2009 , whereupon the DFB examined legal options against the NPD and Beier. The appeal of the defendants against the verdict of the Tiergarten District Court was upheld by the Berlin Regional Court on March 9, 2011 and acquitted the defendants. The court saw the offense of sedition as not fulfilled, on the one hand, because it lacks the character of an appeal and, on the other hand, the title of World Cup planner is ambiguous and can also be understood as a criticism of manipulation and corruption in football. In addition, according to the court's assessment, the content of the World Cup planner was subject to the fundamental right of freedom of expression. The court also denied an insult due to the lack of defamation of the player concerned. The public prosecutor appealed against the judgment. The Berlin Regional Court overturned the Regional Court's acquittal due to errors in the assessment of evidence and the case had to be tried again in another chamber of the Berlin Regional Court. There Beier was sentenced to seven months probation for the offense of sedition in unity with insult.
