Hans Gebhard (church musician)
Hans Gebhard (born May 17, 1929 in Schwarzenbach an der Saale ) is a German church musician , organist , composer and choir director .
life and work
Gebhard studied church music and composition in Munich with Michael Schneider and Joseph Haas and musicology in Kiel with Walter Wiora . In 1950 he became city cantor in Hof , and in 1959 church music director at the Nikolaikirche (Kiel) . In 1976 he was appointed professor for choral conducting and organ at the Lübeck University of Music . In 2000 he became Chairman of the Music Council of the Association of German Concert Choirs (VDKC).
Gebhard is a frequent guest at the International Organ Festival. He teaches as a lecturer in master classes for literary play and improvisation and has been a member of the jury at national and international competitions several times.
