Hans Haselböck

Hans Haselböck (born July 26, 1928 in Nesselstauden , Lower Austria) is an Austrian organist and composer.

Life

Haselböck attended grammar school in Krems , where he passed his Matura in 1947 . From 1947 he studied at the Vienna Music Academy Church Music and at the University of Vienna classics and German, where he received his doctorate 1,953th

Haselböck has been organist at the Dominican Church in Vienna since 1949 . He also taught Latin and German at what would later become the Sigmund Freud Gymnasium in Vienna's 2nd district, Vereinsgasse. In 1960 he won first prize at the International Organ Competition in Haarlem for the third time in a row, and in the same year was given a teaching position for organ and improvisation at the Vienna University of Music. The state of Lower Austria awarded him the regional culture award in 1961.

From 1963 to 1987 Haselböck was head of the church music department and in 1972 was appointed professor for organ and improvisation. From 1985 to 1990 he was Deputy Rector. He became internationally known through numerous concerts at home and abroad. He maintained scientific collaborations a. a. with the Krakow Music Academy and with Jan Jargoń . It is also worth mentioning that he played the cathedral organ in the Requiem for Otto Habsburg-Lothringen in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna on July 16, 2011 .

On July 1, 2018 , a concert for the 90th birthday of Hans Haselböck took place at the Andermatt Swiss Alps Festival , which is directed by Clemens Hellsberg . The jubilee also played the organ himself. His sons are the organist Martin Haselböck and the composer Lukas Haselböck .
