Location of Stobersreuth in Bavaria

Stobersreuth is a district of Schwarzenbach an der Saale in the Upper Franconian district of Hof .

The village is located on the federal road 289 between Seulbitz and the main town Schwarzenbach an der Saale, about 2 km from the latter. The district road HO 10 leads to Fletschenreuth . Before being incorporated into Schwarzenbach an der Saale, Stobersreuth and Fletschenreuth formed one community.

An architectural monument in the village is a door frame with a skylight from 1799 in a residential stable house (→ List of architectural monuments in Stobersreuth ). Traces of an abandoned tower hill castle can be found in the village . Around 1400 the seat belonged as an imperial fief to a branch of the von Hirschberg family , who called themselves "Stabensreuter".

In 1317 "Stabensgerute" was given to the Hirschbergers on the Rudolfstein as an imperial fiefdom from the Counts of Henneberg . In 1390 the village with six farms was mentioned in a document, in 1397 the von Kotzau family was also wealthy in the village.

The Schwarzenbach landscape painter Anton Richter made pictures of the place and its surroundings.
