Franconia is a district of the city of Weißenstadt in the Upper Franconian district of Wunsiedel in the Fichtel Mountains .

It is located on State Road 2180 between Weißenstadt and Röslau . Connecting roads lead to Grub and south towards Birk and Meierhof . The Eger flows through the village, and Thusfall is already on the territory of the neighboring municipality .

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1346 and described in more detail in the land register of the six offices of 1499. A post office was opened in 1696 or 1697 . From 1862 to 1986 there was a school in town. Architectural monuments in the village are the post office, a stable house and a villa. The director Peter Beauvais was born in Franconia.

In 1818 Franconia was merged with Birk and Meierhof to form a community. In 1978 it was incorporated into the city of Weißenstadt.
