Kreuttal is a municipality with 1470 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Mistelbach district in Lower Austria .

geography

Kreuttal is located north of Vienna in the Weinviertel in Lower Austria. The community is named after the valley of the same name, in which the Russbach cuts the foothills of the Alps north of the Danube . The area of ​​the municipality covers 21.48 km². 37.77% of the area is forested.

Neighboring communities

In the last days of the Second World War , Kreuttal and its cadastral communities became the scene of fierce and varied battles between troops of the Wehrmacht and the Red Army . Hornsburg was fought over on April 17, 1945, with 20 German and 40 Russian soldiers killed.
