history
The place is first mentioned in a document in 1055 .
On the road to Bernhardsthal there is a former gallows , the so-called court column . The last conviction by the high court in Bohemia and execution of the execution "on the gallows, outside the village" took place on November 8, 1743.
Until 1922 the municipality was called "Böhmischkrut", but changed the name in 1922, among other things, because the delivery of mail was often delayed because the name supposedly suggested a location in Czechoslovakia. However, the name was more of a demarcation to the place Dürnkrut .
In the last days of the Second World War , on April 20, 1945, Großkrut became the scene of a short battle between soldiers of the Waffen SS and the Red Army , in which 4 civilians were killed. In Ginzersdorf, 3 civilians were killed in fighting and by fire from Stalin organs , and 11 buildings were destroyed.
