The Entente Florale Europe (French for floral agreement ) is a Europe-wide competition that aims to encourage citizens in cities , municipalities and villages to improve the quality of living and living . From the original plant and flower competition, a competition has now developed which, in the catalog of criteria, places far more demands on the applicants than a purely visual beautification of the site. Founded in 1977 as a British-French initiative, twelve European countries are now taking part.

The participants are mostly the winners of national competitions. In Germany these are Our city is flourishing and our village has a future . In Great Britain, pre-selection is carried out by Britain in Bloom , in Ireland by Tidy Towns , in France by the Conseil national des villes et villages fleuris (CNVVF) and in Austria by the Flower Office Austria .

The German federal competition is sponsored by the Central Horticultural Association (until 2014), the German Association of Cities , the German Association of Cities and Towns , and the German Tourism Association .

The national competition Entente Florale “Blooming together” was the nationwide preliminary decision for the participation of the German representative in the “City” category in the European competition up to and including 2014. A nominated “gold commune” is nominated at the award ceremony of the national competition and presents itself at the European level in the following year.
