geography

The district of Obercunnersdorf extends in the valley of the Cunnersdorfer water , about seven kilometers south of Löbau . Immediately south of the village rises the 583 m high Kottmar , where one of the 3 Spree springs rises.

Local division

The district of Kottmarsdorf belonged to the former municipality of Obercunnersdorf since January 1, 1999 .

history

The village of Cunradisdorf near Löbau was first mentioned in a document in 1221 . The place, from the 2nd half of the 15th century a distinction was made between Neu-, Nieder- and Ober-Kunerßdorf, belonged to the property of the Bautzner cathedral chapter. The parish church in Obercunnersdorf, documented since 1527, was a branch church of Kottmarsdorf from 1597 to 1819 and was under the patronage of the Bautzen Cathedral Monastery . Today the Kottmarsdorfer and Obercunnersdorf churches are sister churches; the Niedercunnersdorf branch church has belonged to the latter since 1932. Together they form the parish of St. Barbara.

The Waldhufendorf , along with the Zittau district of Dittelsdorf, is known for its rich heritage-protected timber-frame houses and has received the honorary name of a monument site from UNESCO . In 1995 Obercunnersdorf took third place in the national competition for the most beautiful villages. In 2001 the place won the competition " Entente Florale Europa " for the most beautiful flower villages in Europe. On January 1, 2013, the municipalities of Obercunnersdorf, Niedercunnersdorf and Eibau merged to form the new municipality of Kottmar .

politics

Previous parish partnerships

The former municipality of Obercunnersdorf had partnerships with Deggingen in Germany and Świerzawa in Poland . Both were taken over as new partnerships in the new municipality of Kottmar.

Culture and sights

Museums

The Kottmarsdorf Hairdressing Museum, which opened on November 11, 2000, shows old interiors of hairdressing salons and the tools used by hairdressers from bygone times.

The museum home parlor in the library was given the name "Pfarrer-Heinz-Leßmann-Stube" in 2003 in memory of the Obercunnersdorf original Heinz Leßmann (1903–1983; 1929–1975 ev. Pastor in Obercunnersdorf).

Buildings

The street scene is determined by the extraordinarily dense ensemble of over 250 slate-roofed timber frame houses

In the village of Kottmarsdorf, one of the original three post windmills has been preserved and is accessible.

Leisure and sports facilities

The place has had an adventure pool since 1997 , which was created by converting the old Nieder- and Obercunnersdorfer open-air pool from 1927. The heated outdoor pool with indoor area and steam sauna is open from April to October. There is the possibility of camping. There is also a sports field with tennis facilities.

There is also the Erikabaude in the neighboring area, a restaurant that was dismantled in the former Erika open-cast mine, now Erikasee, and rebuilt at its current location. On April 28, 1999 it was completely destroyed in a fire due to a technical defect and rebuilt within a year. Since April 9, 2000, it has been managed in its current state. From February 16-22, 2009 the building was closed for renovation work. Among other things, the partition was replaced by a mobile one.
