geography

Map from 1884 showing the new building

Neueibau is located one kilometer southwest of Eibau on the S 142 between Neugersdorf and Leutersdorf . The 92 ha large corridor of the village extends on both sides of the Leutersdorfer water (Leutersdorfer Bach) in the Oberlausitzer Bergland . East of Hetzwalde , the formerly wooded Hofebusch to the east meets here , which reached far above the current Neueibauer Höhe (415 m), and the Lehnbusch, which was formerly wooded to the west and connected to the larger Altgersdorf forest area.

After the settlement, Neueibau is a parcel corridor.

history

On February 17, 1714, the electoral approval from August the Strong to implement the plans of the council in Zittau as landlord for the establishment of an independent village on the back fields and meadows of the manor next to Alteibau was received. A wind break and demolished stables provided enough timber for the new building. From the Erbkretscham on, the oldest row of cottages extends parallel to the Leutersdorfer Bach. Initially, the Zittau City Council gave up these construction sites, each 100 cubits long and 50 cubits wide, free of charge. He granted an exemption from tax for three years and, after the deadline, demanded an annual base and hereditary interest of 3 thalers. For this purpose, each settler was allowed to graze a cow in the courtyard bush and set up a duty-free loom. However, the building development was slow, so that in 1723 only 27 houses were built. From 1734 a second row of houses was added with a total of 21 construction sites. A repeated exchange of high-yielding hats for inferior ones by the council of the city of Zittau had a negative effect on the further settlement, especially since cow husbandry was vital due to the low income from house weaving. Ultimately, the move was made to settle the "new side" and a hut area. In order to get new agricultural areas, the council had to clear the southwest part of the Hofebusch and turn it into interest fields. The Zittau council had previously leased the Lehnwiese, the southern part of the Lehnbusch area, to the local judge.

Map of Oberreit around 1845

In the first half of the 19th century, the trees on the Hofe- and Lehnbusch disappeared completely and the settlement slowly expanded in a semicircle around the Neueibauer Höhe. The rear houses had already been built on today's S 145 on the slope in the direction of Eibau.

In 1781 the community of Neueibau built a new school building. A newer school building was built in 1906 (1907, based on the values of our homeland) based on designs by Ernst Kühn as a two-class village school for the 3rd arts and crafts exhibition. However, this is no longer in use today.

Neumanns or Zimmermann mill in Neueibau

The elevated location of Neueibau was a favorable location for a windmill, which Oberreit on the Neueibauer Höhe already recorded around 1845. It was only demolished in 1913. At the southeast end of the village, on the Eibauer Flur, still stands the well-preserved post mill called Zimmermann or Günzel Windmill, which was operated with wind until 1964 and later with electricity.

Until January 1, 1999, Neueibau was an independent rural community, then it was incorporated into Eibau. With the dissolution of the municipality of Eibau, Neueibau came to the municipality of Kottmar on January 1, 2013.
