history

The history of the place can be traced back to the Middle Ages. In 788, an ecclesia Nuzdorf , which was equipped with a property ( cum territorio ), was first documented in the Notitia Arnonis . A document proves that on May 15, 1097, Emperor Heinrich IV stopped in Nussdorf while traveling from Verona to Regensburg . The local noble family of the Clammensteiner on the castles Klammenstein and Ramsau is mentioned here in documents from the 12th century. The last Clammensteiner, Konrad III, bequeathed his fortune to the two Nussdorf churches in 1402. In 1950 the municipality took over the coat of arms of this noble family.

Because of the border location on an important land and waterway, the place was sacked and looted in the Landshut War of Succession in 1504, during the Croatian invasion in 1743 and during the Napoleonic Wars . The amalgamation of the political community, which was founded after 1800, with Neubeuer , which was forced by the regional reform, failed due to resistance from the Nussdorf citizens. Since January 1st, 1980 Nussdorf am Inn has been an independent municipality again.

Population development

Between 1988 and 2018 the community grew from 2062 to 2648, that is by 28.4%.

climate

The microclimate prevailing in Nussdorf can be explained by its location at a narrow point in the Inn Valley and its altitude of 486 meters above sea level. Another important influence is the “Erler Wind”, a strong orographic fall wind that sets in at night and mostly flows back in the opposite direction in the late morning around 11 a.m., that is, towards the valley, albeit less strongly. In the past, the Erler wind was considered a safe barometer, since if it did not flow back, it was very likely that the beautiful weather would end.

The continental influence, which dominates the southern part of Germany, is also noticeable in Nussdorf, where cold winters with average temperatures between −6 and +2 ° C prevail during the day due to the spatial proximity to the Alps. About half of the precipitation falls in the form of snow, so that the ground is usually covered by a blanket of snow (between 15 and 30 cm) in winter.

In summer, the temperatures are similar to those in the rest of Germany, averaging between 13 ° C in the morning and 23 ° C in the afternoon. But summer is also the wettest time of the year. Mighty thunderclouds that are driven against the mountain slopes are discharged with often heavy downpours. In the months of June and July, precipitation values of up to 150 mm per month are often reached, the annual average is around 1075 mm. Despite these numerous thunderstorms, which usually occur in the late afternoon, the sun shines an average of eight hours a day.

Arts and Culture

The painter Peter Kalman (1877–1948) lived and worked temporarily in Nussdorf. Kunst + Werk , an association of Nussdorf artists, regularly organizes exhibitions and art events. In addition, numerous artists have their workshops and studios in the community area. These include, for example, the sculptor Christian Staber and the designer and glass artist Florian Lechner .

In the course of the town hall renovation in 2018/2019, the glass artist Florian Lechner was commissioned to produce the Nussdorf coat of arms made of glass, which now adorns the community's new meeting room as an expression of the anchoring of cultural life in the community.

In 2010, the Kunstkanal 2010 project was implemented as part of the state garden show taking place in Rosenheim. Curated by Michaela Firmkäs and Marion Kuffner, a total of 14 works by well-known artists from the region were exhibited along the Nussdorf Mühlbach for one summer. The municipality is organizing the Kunstkanal 2020 project again.
