climate
The climate of Camblanes-et-Meynac is like that of the whole Gironde maritime, characterized by very mild winters and long warm summers. The precipitation is distributed over all seasons, but reaches its highest absolute values in the autumn and winter months (up to 100 mm / month). Here the influence of the west wind zone shifted to the south can be seen, which transports moist, warm air masses from the Atlantic to the mainland, where they fall as winter rain. Average temperatures vary between 5 and 7 ° C in January and between 19 and 21 ° C in July and August. The annual mean is around 13 ° C, the average annual rainfall is around 900 mm. On average there are only about 30 frost days per year, whereas the number of hours of sunshine is about 2000 per year.
The microclimate of the region around Bordeaux is particularly suitable for wine growing. The Gironde acts here as an important heat store, which results in a consistently temperate climate with little daytime temperature fluctuations. In addition, it reflects the incident sunlight over a wide area into the environment. The Forêt des Landes, a huge pine and oak forest that separates the region around Camblanes-et-Meynac from the sea, also protects it from strong sea winds.
Camblanes-et-Meynac is a wine-growing municipality; the vineyards belong to the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux appellation .

Community partnerships
A community partnership has existed between Camblanes-et-Meynac and the German community of Nussdorf am Inn (Bavaria) since 1975. Since then, this has been brought to life through regular mutual visits and, since 2003, through an annual youth exchange.
Since 1995 there has also been a partnership with the Cretan town of Vori . In 2000 a festival was held in Camblanes-et-Meynac with participants from all three parishes to celebrate the 25th and 5th anniversary. During a week together, the French, Germans and Greeks each presented their culture with folk groups and local food.
