Loupes is a French municipality with 795 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Gironde department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality is located in the catchment area of the city of Bordeaux and belongs to the canton of Créon in the Arrondissement of Bordeaux . An important line of business in Loupes is viticulture .
geography
Loupes is located in southwest France in the Entre deux mers area between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers , 16 kilometers east of Bordeaux, the capital of the Aquitaine region, and 5.2 kilometers northwest of the canton capital Créon , at an average altitude of 75 meters above sea level . The village is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Bonnetan , Lignan-de-Bordeaux , Le Pout and Camarsac . The municipality has an area of 4.87 square kilometers.

Attractions
The Romanesque parish church of Saint-Étienne was built in the 13th or 14th century. A sacristy was added on the east side in the 17th century . The church tower dates from 1764. Restoration work was carried out in the 19th century.
The winery in the hamlet of Rocheran was built in the 17th century, the house dates from the 18th century. A tobacco drying shed was built in 1857. The Maledent estate was built towards the end of the 17th or the beginning of the 18th century. Towards the end of the 18th century, it was enlarged with the construction of a new residential building. Lartigue Castle was probably built in the first half of the 19th century.
economy
The company Château Beaulé La Guillaumette owns a winery in Loupes (La Guillaumette) and one in Pompignac (Beaulé) . In Loupes there is also the winery and a shop. The vineyards in the municipality of Loupes, Pompignac and Bonnetan have an area of 48 hectares, 45 hectares of which are used for the cultivation of red Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties . The soil of the vineyard in Loupes is particularly rich in silica . The company's red wine is called Chateau La Guillaumette and has the Designation of Origin Bordeaux Supérieur, and the white wine Chateau La Guillaumette has the Designation of Origin Entre deux mers or Bordeaux . Sauvignon Blanc grapes are mainly used for its production .
