Sauve is a French commune in the Gironde department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality is located in the catchment area of the city of Bordeaux . While La Sauve still had 793 inhabitants in 1962, it currently has 1483 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). The municipality belongs to the canton of L'Entre-deux-Mers in the Arrondissement of Bordeaux .

Attractions
The ruins of the Abbey La Sauve-Majeure , which gave the place its name, stand on a hill above the village . Together with the parish church of Saint-Pierre , they have been recognized as part of the UNESCO World Heritage “ Camino de Santiago in France” since 1998 .
