Le Haillan ( Occitan : Hailhan ) is a French city with 11,018 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Gironde in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It is located in the Arrondissement of Bordeaux and belongs to the canton of Mérignac-1 . The inhabitants are called Haillanais .

Le Haillan is located northwest of Bordeaux . Le Haillan is surrounded by the neighboring communities Le Taillan-Médoc in the north, Eysines in the east, Mérignac in the south and Saint-Médard-en-Jalles in the west.

Le Haillan was detached from the municipality of Eysines as an independent municipality in 1867.
