La Brède ( okzitan. : La Breda ) is a French commune in the Gironde department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality is located about 18 kilometers south of Bordeaux and thus in the closer catchment area of the city. While La Brède still had 1297 inhabitants in 1962, it currently has 4,280 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).
The municipality is the main town (chief lieu) of the canton of La Brède in the Arrondissement of Bordeaux .
