Sallebœuf ( Catalan Sala Beu ) is a French Town in Gironde in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality is located in the catchment area of the city of Bordeaux . While Sallebœuf still had 700 inhabitants in 1962, it currently has 2490 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). Sallebœuf is part of the Entre-Deux-Mers wine-growing region .

Sallebœuf is located in southwest France, 15 kilometers east of Bordeaux, the seat of the sub-prefecture of the arrondissement , 8.5 kilometers northwest of Créon , the capital of the canton , and 5.3 kilometers west of Tresses , the capital of the communal association Les Coteaux Bordelais , on a mean height of 59 meters above sea level . The Mairie stands at a height of 60 meters. Sallebœuf's neighboring municipalities are Pompignac in the west, Saint-Germain-du-Puch in the northeast, Camarsac in the southeast, Fort-Moville in the south and Bonnetan in the southwest. The municipality has an area of 1480 hectares.
The municipality is assigned to a climate zone of the type Cfb (according to Köppen and Geiger) : warm, moderate rainy climate (C), fully humid (f), warmest month below 22 ° C, at least four months above 10 ° C (b). There is a maritime climate with a moderate summer.

Attractions
The Sainte-Marie church was built from 1864 to 1866 and replaced the original Sainte-Julitte-et-Saint-Cyr church, which was not in the same place but in the center of the village. The patron saint of the new church is Maria , Quiricus and Julitta were retained as secondary patrons. During excavation work on the old church, graves and sarcophagi were discovered. The choir of the neo-Gothic church of Sainte-Marie is not oriented to the east as usual, but to the north.

In the municipality there are controlled designations of origin (AOC) for Entre-deux-Mers and Bordeaux wine as well as Protected Geographical Indications (IGP) for beef ( Bœuf de Bazas ) , lamb ( Agneau de Pauillac ) , domestic ducks for foie gras ( Canard à foie gras du Sud-Ouest ) , ham ( Jambon de Bayonne ) and prunes of the Prunus domestica d'Ente species known as Pruneau d'Agen . Bazas beef comes from Bazadaise cattle .
