Bruges is a French city with 17,924 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Gironde department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The city is located in the Arrondissement of Bordeaux and there in the canton of Le Bouscat .

geography

Bruges is about five kilometers north of Bordeaux . The community is served by the TBC bus lines. A tram-train service is to be introduced on the Ligne du Médoc SNCF line , which runs from Bordeaux to Le Verdon-sur-Mer , and the Bordeaux tram network is to be expanded. Line C is to branch off from Ravezies station in Bordeaux and run via Bruges on a 7.2 km long route to Blanquefort station . This would enable a direct connection without changing trains from the city center in Bordeaux.

Town twinning

Since 1989 there has been a partnership between Bruges and the German municipality of Umkirch in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district of Baden-Württemberg .

A partnership with the Spanish municipality of Polanco in Cantabria has existed since 2005 .
