Ambarès-et-Lagrave ( Occitan AMBARES e La Grava ) is a French city with 16,344 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Gironde department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The city is located in the Arrondissement of Bordeaux and there in the canton of La Presqu'île .
Ambarès-et-Lagrave is located northeast of Bordeaux between Garonne and Dordogne . The community is served by the TBC bus lines.
history
At the time of the Crusades, the Knights Templar founded the Kommende Lagrave and ran a hospice for lepers there.
