Talence is shaped by the largest campus of the University of Bordeaux . After the May riots in 1968 , it was largely relocated to this then sleepy suburb in order to "remove" the students who were generally considered to be troublemakers from the center of Bordeaux.
Talence is also a wine-growing town in the Graves wine-growing region and belongs to the Pessac-Léognan appellation .
Among track and field athletes, Talence is known as the venue for the annual all-round meeting “ Décastar ”.
