Jean-Louis Desvignes (born May 20, 1956 in Talence ) is a former French football player .

Career

Desvignes began his career at Girondins Bordeaux , where he was captain of the reserve team during the 1975/76 season and as such was in the squad of the first division team, but without being used in this. In 1976 he was hired by the first division competitor SEC Bastia from Corsica as the successor to José Broissart ; together with Georges Franceschetti he occupied the defensive midfield, where he was set as a regular from the start. However, a year later he was ousted by the newcomers Jean-François Larios and Félix Lacuesta again from the first team, which is why he did not get beyond occasional appearances in the European Cup season 1977/78 ; accordingly, he was not on the pitch in the two finals in which his team failed at PSV Eindhoven . Then he managed to return to the circle of regular players, even if he repeatedly had to fight injuries. The player reached the Cup final in 1981 with his team , ran in this and, thanks to a 2-1 win against AS Saint-Étienne, won the first title of his career.

In the same year he turned his back on Bastia after five years, but remained with his signature at Olympique Lyon in the top French division. Despite a competition from Alain Moizan , he initially came to regular appearances for Lyon, but did not play much when the club suffered relegation to the second division in the 1982/83 season. He made his second division debut due to a long-term injury and instead played for the reserve team. In view of this, he made the decision to end his career in 1984 at the age of 28 after 155 first division games with four goals. He did not return to professional football in any other capacity.
