Thierry Lataste

Thierry Lataste (born January 31, 1954 in Talence , Gironde department ) is a French fonctionnaire . He has been the High Commissioner of the Republic of France in New Caledonia since 2016 (and previously from 1999 to 2002) .

Life

Lataste is the son of a doctor couple. His great-grandfather was the composer Franz Beck ; his great-uncle, the Dominican Jean-Joseph Lataste , was born in 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI. beatified.

Lataste attended the Paris Institute for Political Studies , the École normal supérieure (Paris) and the National School of Administration in Paris .

From 1982 to 1983 he worked as Préfet Directeur in the administration of the Vaucluse department . He then worked for Pierre Mauroy , 1983–1984 as a specialist in his capacity as Prime Minister , 1983–1985 as Director de Cabinet in his capacity as Mayor of Lille . From 1985 to 1989 Lataste Sécretaire général of the prefecture of the Deux-Sèvres department . He then worked from 1989-1991 as deputy director for internships at the state administration college ENA , whereupon he moved to the post of Secretary General in the High Commission of the Republic in New Caledonia (1991-1994). Until 1996 he then worked as sub-prefect in Senlis , Département Oise . From 1996 to 1997 he was Secretary General for Regional Affairs in the management of that region Rhône-Alpes , 1997-1999 Directeur de cabinet of then Minister of State for Overseas Territories, Jean-Jack Queyranne. He then acted for the first time (1991-2002) as High Commissioner of the Republic in New Caledonia, after which he successively served as Prefect in the departments of Savoie (2002-2004), Pyrénées-Orientales (2004-2007), Vendée (2007-2010) and Saône -et-Loire (2010) worked. 2011–2012 he was then the general director of the conseil régional of the Rhône-Alpes region. After a brief interlude as prefect of the then Languedoc-Roussillon region (2012), he worked under the French interior ministers Manuel Valls (2013–2014) and Bernard Cazeneuve (2014–2015) as Directeur de cabinet . From January 2015 to June 2016 he was the personal representative of the French President in his capacity as Co-Prince of Andorra . Lataste is currently High Commissioner for New Caledonia.

Lataste is married and has four children.

Awards

Thierry Lataste has the Ordre national du Mérite , the Order of Merit of the Legion of Honor and the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class.
