Deux-Sevres [ døsɛːvʀ ] is the French department with the atomic number 79. It is in the west of the country in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine and after the two rivers Sèvre Niortaise and Sèvre Nantaise named.
geography
The Deux-Sèvres department borders on the Maine-et-Loire department in the north, the Vienne department in the east, the Charente and Charente-Maritime departments in the south and the Vendée department in the west .
The most important rivers in the northern part of the department are the Sèvre Nantaise and the Thouet , both left tributaries of the Loire , which leave the department in a north-westerly and north-easterly direction. The Sèvre Niortaise drains the southern part of the department towards the west.
history

It was formed on March 4, 1790 from part of the Poitou Province . From 1960 to 2015 it belonged to the Poitou-Charentes region , which in 2016 became part of the Nouvelle Aquitaine region.
