The department Val-de-Marne [ valdəmaʀn ] ( German " Marne Valley " ) is the French department with the atomic number 94. It is in the Region Ile-de-France in the Paris region and mainly includes the suburbs in the south and southeast of the Capital. The department is named after the Marne River.

The Val-de-Marne department borders Paris to the northwest, the Seine-Saint-Denis department to the north, the Seine-et-Marne department to the east, the Essonne department to the south and the Hauts-de department to the west -His .
Together with the departments of Hauts-de-Seine and Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne forms a ring around the city of Paris, which is called la petite couronne ("little crown").
history
The department was created in 1968 when the Seine and Seine-et-Oise departments were divided into smaller departments. The order number 94 therefore differs from the alphabetical order .
