Créteil is a French commune with 90,605 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the southeastern suburb of Paris , prefecture of the Val-de-Marne department in the Île-de-France region . The inhabitants are called Cristolia .
The city has been the seat of the Roman Catholic diocese of Créteil since 1966 . The main campus of the University of Paris XII is also located in Créteil .
location
The city is located on the Marne , eleven kilometers southeast of the center of Paris and thus belongs to the greater Paris area. In the southwest of the urban area, the artificially created Lac de Créteil lies on the edge of a larger park with numerous recreational opportunities.

The Paris metro line 8 connects the city with the transport network in the greater Paris area. Créteil has four subway stations, the Pointe du Lac station is the eastern terminus of line 8. The city is also served by the RER D and RER A lines of the regional rapid transit network RER . Numerous bus routes ensure that the city is well served by local public transport .
In the west runs the Paris ring motorway Autoroute A 86 with two junctions.

- Monument à la Résistance et à la Déportation (1974), a memorial in memory of the resistance and deportation, located near the prefecture
