Playa ( Spanish for beach ) is a municipality with the rank of municipality in the Cuban province and capital Havana . The Playa district also includes the famous Miramar district .

In pre-Columbian times, the Taínos indigenous people settled in this area, not far from the coast and relatively close to four rivers . For this reason, especially here, one of the largest numbers of archaeological finds in the city area was recorded.

Today there are numerous embassies from foreign countries in this city district.

Miramar

Miramar is a formerly exclusive district of Havana. Today it belongs to the municipality of Playa. Before the revolution , the country's upper class lived here. Its main street, Quinta Avenida , named after New York's Fifth Avenue , is known as the most beautiful street in Cuba.

Miramar is a very green district with beautiful parks, gardens and shady areas due to the dense tree population, where the higher society of Cuba used to stroll.
