Daniel Witzke

Daniel Witzke (* 1971 in Duisburg ) is a German actor , singer , director and musical producer .

Life

Witzke trained as an actor and singer at the Vienna Conservatory , the Stage School Hamburg and from Noelle Turner at the Folkwang University in Essen . His theater career has led him since the early 1990s a. a. to the Hamburg State Opera , the Vienna State Opera , the Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston , the Ruhrtriennale and the floating stage of the Bregenz Festival .

He was the artistic director of the Disney production Aida at the Colosseum Theater in Essen and directed a. a. the productions of don Juan's second wife , Marry me a little , Enjoy your life , Is Someone Out There ?! , Elegies For Angels, Punks and Raging Queens and the German and German-language premieres of The Last 5 Years , Songs For a New World and December Songs in Vienna , Hamburg , Essen , Wuppertal , Wetzlar and Neu-Ulm .

He also works as a lecturer in song interpretation and audition techniques in German-speaking countries. In 2006 he founded the BIG FISH Theater Productions and primarily devoted himself to building a German-speaking off-Broadway culture.

In 2009 Witzke staged the crime comedy The Thirty-Nine Steps by John Buchan and Alfred Hitchcock and the musical fever anniversary tour presented by Aktiv Event Ltd. at the AuGuSTheater Neu-Ulm .

Witzke was the director of the Schinderhannes Festival 2010 in Simmern / Hunsrück and in this role was responsible for the scenic implementation of the musical Julchen (premiere) by Michel Becker and Carsten Braun . On April 10th, 2011 his new My Fair Lady production for the club ALDIANA Makadi Bay premiered in Hurghada, Egypt.

In August 2011, Witzke staged a concert evening at the San Luis Obispo Little Theater in San Luis Obispo , CA, USA, which he initiated and put together under the title R each the Sky - An Evening of Songs by Broadway's future Songwriters . The premiere was on September 5, 2011. From September to December 2011 he worked as a director and theater manager for the Berlin company TUI Cruises .

Daniel Witzke was a director at the Seattle Opera House in the 2012/13 season . In the past few years Daniel Witzke has brought over a dozen opera and musical productions to the US stage, including a. Ariadne auf Naxos for Palm Beach Opera, My Fair Lady for Charlottesville Opera and Die Zauberflöte for Opera Colorado . In addition to his work as a director, Daniel Witzke is an internationally active career and acting coach for young singers, artist managers, translators and poets.

Since the 2017/18 season, Daniel Witzke has been the director of scenic production at the Aalto-Theater in Essen.
