Chennevières-sur-Marne is a French commune with 18,321 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Val-de-Marne in the region Ile-de-France ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Créteil and is the main town ( chief lieu ) of the canton of Chennevières-sur-Marne .
Chennevières-sur-Marne is located in the Paris basin between Champigny-sur-Marne in the north, Le Plessis-Trévise in the east, La Queue-en-Brie in the southeast, Ormesson-sur-Marne in the south and Saint-Maur-des-Fossés in the West, on the east bank of the River Marne .
history
While settlement in the fertile valley of the Marne dates back to the Neolithic, 7,000 years BC. BC, is proven, the first historical evidence of today's community is the mention in 1170 as Canevaria at the gates of Paris'. The Saint-Pierre church was built in 1260.
