Villecresnes is a French municipality with 10,458 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Val-de-Marne in the region Ile-de-France . It is located 20 kilometers southeast of Paris .
location
The municipality is located in the south of the Val-de-Marne department on the Réveillon river . Villecresnes is surrounded by Limeil-Brévannes and Boissy-Saint-Léger in the north, Marolles-en-Brie and Santeny in the east, Mandres-les-Roses in the south and Brunoy and Yerres in the west. Villecresnes belongs to the greater Paris area .

Villecresnes is not directly connected to the Paris metro or S-Bahn network. The closest RER station is in Boissy-Saint-Léger, four kilometers from Villecresnes . From there you can take the RER A to Paris. A bus route connects Villecresnes and Boissy-Saint-Léger.

In a donation in favor of the Saint-Martin-des-Champs Abbey in Corbeil in 1097, a certain Waldricus, who lives in the Villa Crana (etymologically: the village of branch huts), was mentioned for the first time. The first Villescresnes houses were undoubtedly built in the forest. Several finds, which were found by a farmer in the 19th century, indicate that the prehistoric inhabitants trampled the ground of Villecresne.
Before and during the Hundred Years War , Villecresne's history was closely linked to that of the Abbeys of Yerres and Brunoy. After the Treaty of Troyes, which liberated France from the British, the region became increasingly quiet.
Until 1640 the Villecresnes church was a common church with the localities of Marolles and Mandres. From 1640 it was only consecrated to Villescresnes. Today only the church tower from the 13th century remains as a contemporary witness of this. The Villecresnes estate consisted of five fiefs, the oldest of which was that of l'Hôtel des Jardins, which belonged to the lords of Villescresnes.
In 1777 the Count of Provence, who was a brother of King Louis XVI, reunited the five fiefs, making him lord of Villescresnes, Cercay and the Bois d'Auteuil. During the revolution, the mayor's term of office did not even last a full year and it was not until 1848 that Villescresnes and Cercay received their tree of freedom , the train station around 1907, with only a green strip left under which a high-speed TGV line is located. According to physiology, Brillant Savarin invented steam cooking here.
During the Franco-German War of 1870/71, the Villecresnes economy was largely destroyed by Prussian, Mecklenburg and Württemberg troops. Since the construction of the railway line in 1875, which encouraged the opening of the first public school les Merles in 1907, the community began to grow steadily. After the Second World War, it suffered the strong demand for housing triggered by the baby boom, which made the community more and more a city and increasingly built on agricultural areas from the pre-war period.
The station was closed in 1953 and demolished in 1994. During the 1980s there was a protracted conflict between the state and the municipality regarding the construction of a new TGV route on the former train route, whereby the municipality was finally able to assert its demands, whereby the planned 200 meter long tunnel was built 2500 meters long and the TGV route now runs underground through Villecresnes.
