Sandrine Doucet (born September 10, 1959 in Talence , Gironde department , † February 4, 2019 ) was a French politician . She was a member of the National Assembly from 2012 to 2017 .

Doucet was involved in trade unions in connection with her teaching profession and was a member of the leadership of the union in the Gironde department. In 2004 she joined the Parti socialiste and four years later became the party's secretary in the northern part of Bordeaux . Also in 2008 she became a deputy member of the General Council of the Gironde department . In addition, she took part in the city council elections in Bordeaux, but remained unsuccessful. In 2011 she was elected to the office of PS in the Gironde department. In the parliamentary elections in 2012 Doucet ran in the first constituency of the département and faced the previous MPs Chantal Bourragué ( UMP ) in the second round . It received 51.5% of the vote, making it the first left in 133 years to win this constituency. In the run-up to the presidential elections in France in 2017 , she was spokeswoman for the socialist candidate Benoît Hamon for universities and research. In the parliamentary elections in the same year , she did not run for health reasons.

Sandrine Doucet died of cancer at the age of 59.
