Villenave-d'Ornon is a French city with 34,090 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Gironde department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The city is located in the Arrondissement of Bordeaux and forms its own canton .
Villenave-d'Ornon is located south of Bordeaux , on the western bank of the Garonne . The community is served by the TBC bus lines.
Villenave-d'Ornon is a wine-growing town in the Graves wine-growing region and belongs to the Pessac-Léognan appellation .
The Institut des Sciences de la Vigne et du Vin Bordeaux Aquitaine (ISVV), inaugurated in June 2009, is in Villenave-d'Ornon . It is the largest research center for viticulture in Europe and was designed by the architects Nicolas Ragueneau and Antoine Roux.
