Klammenstein Castle

The castle gorges Stone is an Outbound Spur castle on a rocky outcrop above the Steinbach ravine about 1000 feet east of Nussdorf am Inn in the district of Rosenheim in Bavaria .

The castle was probably built by the knights of Klammenstein (Clammensteiner) as their ancestral seat and was mentioned around 1180 as "Heinrich von Chlammensteine". 1205 was called "Siboto de Chlammensteine", he was Ministeriale of the Diocese of Regensburg . As a further member of the family "Wolfger der Clainsteiner" is mentioned from 1280, the family died out with Konrad von Klammenstein in 1402.

The castle was destroyed in 1504 together with Ramsau Castle , another seat of the Clammensteiners, and probably Kirnstein Castle during the Landshut War of Succession . Nothing has been preserved from the former castle complex.
