The list of castles and palaces in Bavaria is subdivided into further lists for the administrative districts of Lower Bavaria , Upper Palatinate , Upper Franconia , Middle Franconia , Lower Franconia and Swabia . Ornamental and replicas that were never used as residential buildings or for defense are not listed .
