Pasenbach is a district of the municipality of Vierkirchen in the district of Dachau .

Early history

The name refers to a settlement on the brook of a certain Paso and should have originated in the 8th century. The first documentary mention goes back to the year 819, after which a clergyman named Tozi gave his property in Pasinpah to the Freising Cathedral . A church is also mentioned for the first time in the 9th century .

In the 12th century, parts of the property went to the neighboring Indersdorf monastery and the Daxberg family, although this family died out in the 15th century. The badger lived on in the coat of arms of the municipality of Pasenbach until 1971.

In 1432 a court in Pasenbach is mentioned, in 1440 Pasenbach is referred to as Hofmark .

Castle and Hofmark Pasenbach

Pasenbach Castle around 1700 (engraving by Michael Wening)

The Hofmark Pasenbach was a Hofmark from 1440 with its seat at Pasenbach Castle in Pasenbach. Pasenbach Castle was a simple, rectangular, two-storey building with a high pitched roof, which was surrounded by a wide moat. There were little turrets with onion roofs at the four corners. A massive square onion dome dominated the south side of the castle.

Filial church St. Leonhard and Anna

The current branch church of St. Leonhard and Anna of the parish of Vierkirchen is a Gothic building that was rebuilt or expanded and, above all, newly equipped in the Baroque period. The three-sided, slightly drawn-in choir is vaulted with a barrel vault with stitch caps . The essentially late-Gothic, square tower is built onto the north side of the choir. It received its onion dome in the 17th century. Two bells hang in it , including the oldest in the district. She is around 880 years old.

In a niche in the outer wall of the choir stands the figure of Saint Leonhard (17th century), who is holding a heavy chain with a bell and lock in his left hand. The figure is made of clay.

Pasenbach community

With the formation of new political administrative units in Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century, Pasenbach achieved the status of a municipality. On January 1, 1972, it was incorporated into the neighboring communities of Vierkirchen (main part) and Weichs .
