Giebing is a district of the municipality of Vierkirchen in the Upper Bavarian district of Dachau .
location
The place is east of the core town Vierkirchen on the district road DAH 4 . The federal highway 13 runs to the east and the Rettenbach flows through the village. In the late 20th century, to the south of the Rettenbach, a somewhat separated mixed area was added to the north of the stream.
history
Like Gramling (formerly Gramilingen), Giebing probably originated in the 9th or 10th century. The place is mentioned for the first time in 1123, when a noble family existed there that was in the service of the Dachau counts and later the Wittelsbachers .
The earliest verifiable landlords were the Kammerberger , who called the place Hofmark Giebing. Various changes of ownership of the Hofmark can be recorded up to the beginning of the 19th century. The Giebingen Castle was demolished in 1804 because it was dilapidated. In 1833, Baron von Vequel bought the Graeflich Haßlangsche Hofmark. The barons of Vequel had already acquired Hofmark Kammerberg shortly before and have remained the lords of the castle to this day.
The formerly independent municipality of Giebing with its district of Gramling was incorporated into Vierkirchen on July 1, 1972 as part of the municipal reform.
