Esterhofen is a district of the municipality of Vierkirchen in the Upper Bavarian district of Dachau .
The place is to the west directly adjacent to the core town of Vierkirchen.
history
Esterhofen is probably younger than the neighboring villages, the first mention is from 1381, when the monastery of Indersdorf the "Groß- und Kleinzehet ze Bäzenbach und ze Österhofen" was sold. The name means “eastern courtyard / courtyards”, in this case east of Pasenbach , to which there was a close relationship. The place name suggests close ties to Pasenbach, as it means farm or courtyards east of the mother village of Pasenbach.
This close relationship is also shown by the first nomination document from September 1381, according to which Hans der Biburger, who was also wealthy in Rettenbach, sold the large and small teas Bäzenbach and Österhofen for 12 pounds Regensburg pfennigs to the Indersdorf monastery. In the late Middle Ages, almost all of Esterhofen came under the rule of Munich citizens. Esterhofen remained a hamlet with five properties until after the construction of the Munich-Ingolstadt railway line in 1867. In 1823 it had 29 inhabitants, in 1879 there were 35 inhabitants.
Esterhofen has been part of Vierkirchen since the municipal edict of the beginning of the 19th century.
There are no objects entered in the Bavarian Monument List.
