history
Rettenbach, which found its current form of writing from Rotinpah, Rotbach via Röttenbach, means clearing on the stream.
Rettenbach is mentioned for the first time in August 852, when the Freising Bishop Erchanbert the noble Hitto in Assenhausen 126 yoke exchanged fields, meadows and forest for part of the inheritance of this noble in the same amount in "Rotinpah".
Various nobles and nobles were then owners of Rettenbach. At the beginning of the 13th century, the Wittelsbach Ministerial Heinrich von Kranzberg transferred property in Rettenbach to the Weihenstephan Monastery .
Around 1500 there were 13 properties in Rettenbach.
