The Rieden Castle in Rieden in the municipality of Seehausen am Staffelsee in the Upper Bavarian district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen essentially dates from the 18th century and originally belonged to Ettal Abbey . The previous building, the house where Joseph von Utzschneider was born , was rebuilt in the neo-baroque style in 1887. It is privately owned today.

The castle is described in the Bavarian Monument List (No. D-1-80-132-15) as follows:

"Two - storey neo-baroque hipped roof building with a southern half - hip , onion corner towers , mighty roof turrets and plaster structure , the core of the 18th century, rebuilt in 1887."
