Wald an der Alz (officially: Wald adAlz ) is a district of the municipality of Garching an der Alz in the Upper Bavarian district of Altötting . Until 1978 it formed an independent municipality.

location

Wald an der Alz is located about one kilometer southeast of Garching on the opposite bank of the Alz .

history

Forest was first mentioned in a document in 927. The first confirmed ancestor of the Lords of Wald is Adelprht de Silva, who is named in a document from the Salzburg Cathedral Chapter in 1139 together with his brother Luitpold and his son of the same name. The forest court is mentioned for the first time in a document from the Raitenhaslach monastery dated March 17, 1283, in which the brothers Kuno and Otto von Wald vow to the abbot of Raitenhaslach not to sell the castle and court forest. The court was later repeatedly pledged.

Shortly after the turn of the 16th century, the forest rule came to the von Laitter family, which went out in 1598. In 1602, the era of the Counts of Wartenberg began here, who owned the castle and forest until their extinction in 1736. Wald has now been incorporated into the Bavarian administration and managed by administrators. The Waldschaftsgericht Wald became a ducal nursing court, which was repealed in 1806 and assigned to the royal district court in Burghausen . The castle and the electoral brewery with real estate were acquired by the brewery owner Rechl from Neuötting in 1806 at an auction .

In 1831 the first school was built in the lower village, followed by a larger one in 1879. The current schoolhouse was inaugurated in 1963. In the course of the regional reform in Bavaria ordered by the Bavarian state government, the Walder municipal councils finally decided to approve the incorporation into the municipality of Garching an der Alz on May 1st, 1978. The Walder Kindergarten was completed in 1993. In 1997 the village square in the center was redesigned with a pavilion, fountain, memorial stone and benches. The population of Wald an der Alz was around 1900 in 2014.
