Fraunberg Castle (also Altfraunberg ) in the community of Fraunberg in the Erding district is one of the oldest moated castles in Bavaria.

history

The double moat ring system dates back to before the year 1000. The castle was probably built in the 13th century. The castle, which is actually a castle , has been owned by the baronial von Fraunberg family since it was founded . It was looted and badly damaged during the Thirty Years War . In 1683 the facility was rebuilt. Victor von Fraunberg was the client. In the recent past, a thorough interior and exterior renovation took place. In some rooms, stucco ceilings from the construction period of 1683 have been preserved.

Building description

The castle is a three-storey complex with a medieval moat . It is surrounded by a small park and a castle wall. Parts of the house foundations, the surrounding wall and the keep date from the Middle Ages .
