history

Until the church is planted

In 1144 Arnoldus de Frawnperg appears in a document from Bishop Otto von Freising . The secured trunk line begins in 1231 with Sigfried von Frauenberg. Due to his marriage to the daughter of Gurren von Haag, he inherited the possessions of the Counts of Haag and received high jurisdiction for them from Emperor Friedrich II. In 1245 . His grandchildren founded the two main lines of the Fraunbergers: Sigfried III. († 1317) that of Haag, and Wittilo († 1281) that of Fraunberg. Since then, Fraunberg has been owned by the von und zu Fraunberg family . The place was part of Bavaria , but formed a closed Hofmark , the seat of which was Altfraunberg Castle . During the Thirty Years War Fraunberg was plundered and heavily devastated.

From 1818

In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria, the community of Fraunberg was established with the community edict of 1818, the lower jurisdiction remained with the Patrimonial Court of Fraunberg and Riding until 1848 .

Coat of arms and flag

The coat of arms of the Fraunberg community was laid down on February 4, 1981: “Under a silver shield head, a blue sword and a blue arrow crossed at an angle, split; front split by blue and white with a heraldic lily in mixed up colors; behind in red a bridled, rising silver horse. "

The municipal coat of arms contains references to the formerly independent sub-towns; the arrow and the sword in the head of the shield are taken from the earlier coat of arms of Reichenkirchen, while the lily as a symbol of Mary refers to the pilgrimage church in Thalheim . Since the 13th century, Fraunberg belonged to one of the oldest noble families in Old Bavaria, the Fraunbergern zu Fraunberg; the bridled silver horse on a red background comes from her coat of arms.

In addition to the coat of arms, the municipality carries an unofficial flag with the colors white and blue.
